You cannot expect your partner to do all the extra things that make your relationship work. You as their partner also need to make an effort.
Love is a lot more than just being with someone you find appealing who is able to tolerate you. It is finding someone who is willing to put the same amount of effort into things that you are. It is being with someone who will hold your hand when you’re doing well and let you lean on them when you’re falling apart.
All relationships go through ups and downs, none of them will ever play out exactly the same. There will be relationships you find yourself in but unhappy for years and others you might find yourself in for a mere month and happier than you’ve ever been. We as human beings need to be able to accept one another all the while being willing to grow with one another.
Love is never easy and that’s something we all have to accept. We are human beings and we are nowhere near perfect. We all make mistakes and have our doubts.
If you want a proper healthy relationship you need to make sure the person you’re with is someone who will meet you halfway. If your partner isn’t willing to lift a finger when you’re in need, you’re not with the right person. When you’re with someone who cares for your wants and needs just as much as their own, you’ve found someone truly special.
The more you struggle with your partner the more they prove themselves to you and that’s how it should be. The way the people we care the most about reacting to our pain and suffering makes their intentions quite clear. Don’t waste your time with someone who isn’t willing to lift a finger when you’re in need.
If your partner isn’t helping you to be the best version of yourself that you could be and working to grow within his or herself as well, you need a change. Don’t settle in life or in love. Real relationships are all about giving and taking not one or the other. You can find someone who will be willing to do all of these things, don’t keep wasting your time on people who don’t give a crap about you.
Just because you’re used to the person you’re with and you don’t want to be alone does not mean you’re where you should be. Surviving and thriving are two very different things. The more you look into your connection the more clear it will become whether you’re in a proper healthy one or not.
If your lover accepts your flaws, shows you that he or she cares, and is willing to do what needs to be done to make things work – hang onto that person. There might be a lot of people in this world but finding someone who truly wants to be with you that you truly want to be with is not easy. Once you’ve found this kind of connection, never be so quick to let it go.
