Right now the world is in crisis over the COVID-19 pandemic, and people are losing their minds. Which, to an extent, is understandable; however, things are really starting to go too far.

*Before you read any further, this is an opinion article.

In times of crisis communities used to come together and help out their fellow man. Now we have people on social media selling infant formula to needy mothers for $70 a can. How have we arrived at this point?

Social media has changed the way that people act. We are so disconnected from the people around us that we would rather see them suffer instead of leaving excess food and toilet paper on the shelves to make a quick buck so that we all would have enough to provide for our families. Making videos and viral posts are the only things on our minds right now, because making a quick dollar seems to be more important than surviving.

And, in my opinion, the mainstream media is only adding fuel to the fire. They seem to be the main cause of all the panic, but in reality, if we remain calm we can probably get through this time of crisis.

Evil and greed have taken over this world and it makes me feel like we are living in a generation of narcissists. For years people have been talking about how we need more love, but where is that love now?

Now more than ever we need to learn to appreciate the small things in life, the people we hold dear and our fellow man so that we can get through this together. Now is not the time to try and profit off of tragedy! Not only is it illegal and can land you fines of up to $1000.00, but it is morally wrong.

Learn to love your neighbor or this pandemic will separate us more than ever before.
