With so many cases of COVID-19 across the world, it’s important to know how to work through some of its effects. While not everyone is going to have severe symptoms, those who end up struggling to breathe properly need to be aware of techniques that can help them, right?

Well, one UK doctor is making sure that people know how to do what is being referred to as a ‘lifesaving coronavirus breathing technique.’ This doctor works at Queens Hospital and a video posted of him going over this technique has been viewed around 2 million times already.

His name is Doctor Munshi and his three-step technique is important for all of us to be aware of. In this video, he emphasizes just how important it is to get a good amount of air into the base of the lung when you’re sick from this kind of thing. He says people who have the infection should be doing this technique right from the very beginning of their diagnosis and that you can even do it before you become ill.

Step 1

Take 5 deep breaths in and hold those breaths for five seconds each time.

Step 2

Take a deep breath in and do a big cough covering your mouth.

Step 3

Do both of the first two steps twice and from there lie down on a bed flat on your front (with a pillow in front of you) and take slightly deeper regular breaths for about ten whole minutes.

While this might sound simple for those who are ill it could be very hard to accomplish depending on how the person is being affected. To hear this Doctor explain more on this and show an example of how this is done please check out the video below.

While you might not yet have this virus it is better to be prepared and know this kind of thing just in case you or someone you care for does become ill. Right now we are living in a world heavily affected by COVID-19 and we need to work to be as educated on it as we can. Don’t let this message go in one ear and out the other.
