While a lot of people in this world seem to want to be near us, most of them have bad intentions. Sure, they may never really hurt us on purpose, but they’re just not around when we need them the most.

In life, we are dealt a lot of circumstantial friends and very few true friends. True friends are the ones who see you struggling and do their best to keep you afloat. Sure, they may not always be able to keep your head above water, but they try for you and that effort makes the biggest difference in the world.

Below I am going to go over some signs that someone in your life is a true friend. If they do these things and have these qualities, they are going to be by your side even when no one else is. Sure, they may call you out on your crap, but they also really care about you and your well-being.

7 Signs Of A True Friend:

1. You can 100% be yourself with them.

When you’re around someone who is a true friend you don’t have to keep your guard up. You can be yourself entirely. They accept and care for who you are on the inside.

2. They’re always hyping you up instead of tearing you down.

Instead of picking at you and making you feel bad, they care for you properly. They boost you up higher and always tell you proper things. They’re never going to judge you harshly.

3. They can always tell when something is wrong.

When something is wrong they can tell. They know you well and it shows. True friends are always able to pick up on things others are not.

4. They are always there to talk when you need to vent.

When you need to talk true friends are there. They will pick up the phone because they know you need them. It’s not a chore to talk to you in their eyes. They want to be there for you.

5. They make time for you even if they have hectic lives.

While their lives might be hectic they still make time for you. They answer when you call (within reason) and they’re there for you when you need them. Sure, they might sometimes be too busy to come around, but they’re not too busy to talk here and there.

6. They don’t constantly try to turn you into someone you’re not.

True friends are always going to accept you for who you are. They don’t try to change you and make you into someone you’re not. This is because they know how important it is to truly see someone as they are.

7. They are always open and honest with you.

Friends who will remain by your side are always honest and open. They don’t sugar coat things and always tell it like it is. You never have to wonder if you’re hearing the truth from them.
