The Autumn Equinox is set to occur on the 22nd/23rd of this month. For those who do not know this is something that marks the change in seasons as well as the time in which light and dark will be balanced.

Traditionally this time is one for celebration. This day was originally known as the Pagan holiday Mabon. It marked a time where we should honor the changs of seasons and was thought to enrich us throughout the time to come. Any and all intentions you set during this time will stick with you.

During the Autumn Equinox, we are supposed to work to connect with the divine on a deeper level. Mabon symbolizes balance, equality, mysteries, and the second harvest. Many in the Pagan world use this time period to gather herbs, walk through the woods and scatter offerings, make wine, and taking the time to honor the dead.

Wicca.com wrote as follows in regards to what Mabon is:

Mabon is considered a time of the Mysteries. It is a time to honor Aging Deities and the Spirit World. Considered a time of balance, it is when we stop and relax and enjoy the fruits of our personal harvests, whether they be from toiling in our gardens, working at our jobs, raising our families, or just coping with the hussle-bussle of everyday life. May your Mabon be memorable, and your hearts and spirits be filled to overflowing!

If you want to celebrate the Autumn Equinox you don’t have to do a lot. You can figure out something that works for you and do it without issue. A lot of people use it as a time for them to reflect and let go of things that have been burdening them. But, not everyone has to celebrate or participate in the same way.

Take however long you want and meditate. Work within to find balance and if you feel like it go out for a picnic or something fun. The more in nature you are during this time the better. Your celebration can be whatever you want it to be.
