The process of spiritual awakening and enlightenment is often seen as the ultimate goal that one should strive for, however, while we often discuss the incredible benefits of this journey, we overlook the costs. Spiritual awakening can be a lonely and alienating process, with a serious impact on our relationships.
Spiritual awakening is one of the most profound experiences that one will ever encounter, the moment in which one is able to reconnect with the universe, understanding that you, as an individual, and the divine are truly one.
It is difficult to truly explain or define the experience, as it is such a complex experience. Some describe it as the moment that you discover a higher meaning to your life, your true calling or purpose. Others, however, believe that the state of spiritual awakening is about letting go of your individual ‘self’ in favor of the greater universal picture. Recognizing that you are one with the universe, you are able to truly see that you are only one small piece of a much bigger puzzle, empowering you to let go of any selfish wants or desires in favor of the greater good.
Regardless of the definition you believe, the underlying truth is that spiritual enlightenment is the moment in which your eyes are opened to a new way of looking at the life we live. Rather than living your life stressing about the trivial details, you are able to look at the bigger picture. Is it possible that a small sacrifice on your part today could have a profound impact on the world? This way of thinking allows you to seek the good in every situation, maintaining a positive outlook as opposed to being overwhelmed by negativity.
Those who are currently undergoing a spiritual awakening may feel as though they are more tied to the world around them, drawn to the natural environment. They begin to notice and acknowledge the thoughts and feelings of those around them, experiencing an increase in compassion and empathy.
As you become more in tune with the energy of the universe, you will also notice that your intuition becomes stronger and more reliable. Don’t disregard this. The more that you listen to your intuition and put it into action, the stronger and more accurate it will become.
Most noticeably, as you reach the point of spiritual awakening you will start to notice an incredible inner peace. No longer preoccupied with the negativity and toxic energy of the outside world, you will embrace your alone time. Stepping back from your hectic schedule, you embrace and look forward to your alone time.
Unfortunately, while this all seems like a great step towards a happier, more fulfilling life, it can put great strain on your relationships. Everyone is on their own spiritual journey, and your loved ones may not be as far along as you are. As they see you transition into this new outlook on life, it can put tremendous pressure on your relationship. There is suddenly a rift forming between you, no longer truly understanding one another.
At this point, your relationship is going to go one of two ways. Either this step in your life is going to inspire and empower your partner, moving you both forward in your spiritual journeys and creating a deeper and stronger connection than ever before, or the differences are going to be too great, tearing you apart. While you should make an effort to build this relationship and increase your chances of success, don’t allow anyone to hold you back on your spiritual journey. You have come a long way to reach this point, and your journey is just getting started…
