While it might not sound like much, this at least might be something we can give to the youngest sibling. Sure, the middle child and oldest tend to get more in many areas when it comes to findings but perhaps the youngest is at the very least the funniest?
According to a study carried by YouGov several years back, the youngest sibling tends to be the funniest, and overall this proved through with their results after surveying over 1,700 people. Sure, the oldest sibling was the most responsible and most successful in their findings when compared to the youngest but the youngest is at the very least funnier and more easy-going. All of this having been said, I guess it could be something we take on a case by case basis as not all families are the same.
YouGov wrote as follows on these findings:
New YouGov research reveals how often-speculated differences in character between first and last born children in a family do have some basis. In short, it turns out to be true that the oldest child in a family feels a greater weight of responsibility, while the youngest child feels a higher level of breathing room.
Splitting out the first and last born siblings in British families with more than one child (86% of the population), a clear divide in personality traits emerges. The most significant difference is in feeling the burden of responsibility – most (54%) first borns say they are more responsible than their siblings, compared to 31% of last borns.
Younger siblings, on the other hand, are more likely to say they are more funny (46% compared to 36% of elder siblings), more easy going and more relaxed.
What do you think about all of this? I for one think I can agree with it for my family overall. My little sister is quite funny and very much easy going overall while as the oldest I am quite responsible and in my opinion also much more organized overall.
