While the phrase ‘actions speak louder than words’ seems to be used a lot, it isn’t without reason. We as human beings need to look more at what the people around us are doing rather than just what they’re saying.

You can say something and not mean it, this happens all the time. We say ‘sorry’ when we’re not actually sorry, and we tell people we care when we actually don’t. While that sounds very cold, it is something that many of us are unable to stop. That having been said if you don’t follow through with your actions the things you say you will do you will never be able to have proper healthy connections.

We remember the things people do to us and the things they refuse to do all the while getting our hopes up. Years from now when the words fade, those actions will remain. Following through on our part and ensuring that others are doing the same is important.

Sure, you might want to do things for other people but if you can’t handle something you’re being asked to do, don’t agree to do it. You don’t want to be known as the person who lets others down time and time again even if your intentions are good. Knowing your limits and setting proper boundaries is crucial.

If you want to show someone you care about them, don’t waste your time trying to say I love you over and over again if you’re not going to change your actions as a whole. When someone we love on a real level is suffering we make the changes we need to in order to fix the issues before us. You can’t say you’re going to make things right and never do it all the while expecting this person to stick by your side.

Sure, there will be ups and downs in life and in love but if you’re using your words as excuses to keep from having to follow through or put a real effort forth in your connections, you’re making some serious mistakes. Saying you’re worried about someone is a lot different from being their shoulder to cry on and you need to remember that. Support goes a lot further than just saying things to one another and pretending to give each other pats on the back.

The person who loves us the most won’t waste time trying to force us to do things, he or she will pick us up and helps us get back on our feet when we’re at our lowest points. Instead of walking the opposite direction, the person who truly loves us will prove their love with each day that passes. Don’t let someone just use their words to get you where they want you to be, make them show with their actions that they have your best interests in mind and that they’re willing to be there for you through thick and thin.
