When someone does something to upset me or keeps hurting me time after time I don’t let it get to me. Instead of giving that person power over my emotions, I do what’s best for my overall wellbeing.

Instead of getting mad or angry at someone for the things they’re doing I do what we should all be doing. I distance myself from them and no longer allow them that control in my life. When someone hurts you over and over again you’re the one choosing to let them back into your life. By creating distance between you and this person you are creating a secure environment to grow within.

Quit letting people pick you apart. If someone needs to be cut out of your life, cut them out. No one deserves a spot by your side just because they exist. The places within your close circle are for those you can trust not those who betray you time after time.

While this person might work with you or be someone you cannot completely get away from that distance will do you a world of good. When you’re distant from someone you no longer share the things you normally would with them. Instead of taking time out of your day to talk to them, your interactions become limited to those regarding work itself.

Sure, at first this is going to be weird and you might struggle a bit but once you get this distancing thing down leaving people in the past who are not meant to be a part of your future will become quite easy. You will find ways to really understand both yourself and the world around you much more easily.

Just because someone has been in your life for a long time does not mean you owe them that place. They through their actions determine whether they get to stick around. If someone is treating you well and putting forth the efforts you are in return then so be it, but if they’re constantly hating on you and causing you to stress they shouldn’t be around you. Know where you stand and how you want to progress as time moves forward.

There are people in this world who will want nothing more than to hold us back and those people do not deserve power over us. One of the most crucial tools we can work to cultivate properly in our lives is distance and the ability to use it with those who are seemingly toxic in our lives. There are likely several people in your life right now that you need to distance yourself from, maybe you’re not aware of them but they are quite present.

Have you ever had to distance yourself from someone you thought you wanted in your life forever and if so how hard was it? The process isn’t an easy one that’s for sure but it does make a big difference moving forward. The connections we feed should only be the ones that help us become better versions of ourselves.
