As the Covid-19 pandemic seems to be dying down it seems in time the CDC may end up having to stop referring to it as an ‘epidemic.’ While we don’t know when that will be, some think it is just a matter of time.

An update posted by the CDC on the 10th of this month (July 2020) noted that we’ve been seeing a decrease in mortality in comparison to last week and that we are just at the ‘epidemic threshold.’ This meaning that if numbers were to continue to drop we would be under the threshold. That being said, the CDC also mentioned that posting that this isn’t likely going to go down but more-so will probably go up a bit as ‘additional death certificates are processed.’

Now, for those who do not know the CDC defines an epidemic as a sudden increase in the number of cases of a disease above normally expected in that population in that area. As we continue to see more and more declines there is no way the epidemic status will stick. That having been said, we do not know what the future holds for certain.

As you may be aware already a lot of people think we have all been deceived during this pandemic and that things are nowhere near as bad as they are made out to be. It is quite mind-blowing how a mere virus changed so much and there are people out there who think there is a lot more to this story than we will ever truly know. It seems that misinformation has run rampant since this pandemic came to light and well, that in itself I do somewhat agree with.

Don’t get me wrong this virus is dangerous, and we should be careful with how we handle it but that doesn’t mean we know the things we should about it. Actually, if you have time click here and read through an article posted by WSJ on the topic, it might break down more than you realize.

How long do you think it will take for this ‘epidemic’ to be over? Could it be nearing its end already or are we about to see a spike once again? I for one am quite on the fence about either option. Things really could end up going either way. If we get under that threshold and remain there, the epidemic status will have to be changed. I just hope all of this is over with soon.
