When we refer to the heart, we don’t mean our literal heart, we mean something much bigger than that. Call it your instincts, your gut, the universe, God, your heart, your soul – whatever the verbiage is- what’s important is that it’s best to listen to this part of yourself.
There is no denying that sometimes, we feel things in our bones and know things we shouldn’t otherwise know. Whether it’s a feeling we get about someone that eventually ends up being true or a feeling that something is going to happen – sometimes, we just know. Of course, signals get crossed, and we may take negative self-talk or self-talk, in general, as a gut feeling. In turn, we may sometimes ignore our feelings.
But there are some messages or feelings we shouldn’t ever ignore. Here are 6 of them:
1. This is dangerous.
Since the dawn of time, people have been able to sense when they are in danger. Even if it’s the slightest sense that something is off – we were born with the ability to sense danger and protect ourselves from it. Always listen to your heart when it tells you this.
“The Power of Intuition: How to Use Your Gut Feelings to Make Better Decisions at Work” by Gary Klein is an insightful read. This book delves into how intuition works and provides practical advice on how to trust and use your instincts in various aspects of life.
2. Other people are in danger.
We are inherently connected to others, call it the collective unconscious, or just call it connection – regardless it’s real. If you sense someone you love or know is in danger, tell them.
3. Inspiration that sparks a fire in you.
Our purpose is within us. Each of us contains a piece of our creator– and that spark, that passion and that inspiration it provides to us from within are real. Don’t ever ignore it.
4. Something is wrong with your body.
If you have ever known someone with a serious terminal illness, then you know that most people can sense deep down that something is off, even before they know for sure. If you wake up and feel like something is wrong with you – trust yourself.
If you’ve ever felt that your body knows things before your mind catches up, “The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma” by Bessel van der Kolk is like a revealing conversation with a knowledgeable friend. This book dives into how our mental and physical health are deeply connected and teaches us to listen more closely to what our bodies are saying.
5. This person just feels…..right.
When I first reconnected with my now-husband, I had a feeling deep within. I felt at home with him, like we had been together for years, even though we hadn’t seen each other since High School. I knew I had to be with him and that I would. From that moment, we have been in each other’s lives and our marriage is the best thing that ever happened. If you feel like someone just feels right – like you feel at home with them, trust that.
6. Feeling like you know someone.
Have you ever met someone and felt like you already knew them? Even if you didn’t, they just seemed like someone you know. Listen to that feeling- it is what helps us to recognize cosmic connections.
For those intrigued by the mystery of human connections and destiny, “The Celestine Prophecy” by James Redfield is like a thrilling journey of self-discovery. This novel, blending adventure with spiritual wisdom, beautifully captures the essence of how we are all connected and the magic of those ‘meant to be’ encounters in our lives.
