While the New Moon itself falls on September 9th, the impact that it has on our lives can extend far behind that. In order to make the most of the September Virgo New Moon, this ritual can be completed any time between September 5th and 20th.
You will need:
– Smudging materials (herb of choice)
– Timer
– Crystal of choice
– Pen and Paper
– Relaxing Music/Ambient Noise
– A quiet, comfortable place to lie down complete with blankets and/or pillows
Directions:
#1. To start the ritual, you need to cleanse the location where you will be completing it. This will help to ensure that your efforts aren’t disturbed by negative and/or toxic energy that may exist in the area. Some common smudging herbs include sage, frankincense, bayberry, rose, cedar, sweetgrass, myrrh and lavender. Carefully smudge the room or area, paying careful attention to all doorways and windows.
#2. Once the energy of the room has been cleansed, turn your attention to your own energy. Smudge your aura, freeing yourself from the negativity of the world and of your own mind. Allow yourself to let go of any thoughts that are not currently serving you in a positive way.
#3. When you have finished the smudging process, either leave your herbs still burning in a safe place nearby or use these herbs in order to light a candle by your side. This will need to stay lit and close by throughout the whole ceremony so that it continues to cleanse you and your space.
#4. Turn on your music or ambient noise machine. This will help to calm your mind and set a mood that will promote better connection and relaxation. Set up a comfortable space where you can lie for the duration of the ceremony. Set your timer for 30 minutes.
#5. While lying on your back, place your crystal onto your stomach or over your third eye or heart chakra. Trust your intuition as to which of these areas should be the focal point of your energy at this time. Once you have decided place your hands gently over the crystal, focusing all of your attention to this area.
#6. Take 10 slow, deep breaths, pushing all thoughts out of your mind. Focus instead on counting your breaths and on the feeling of energy moving through the crystal into your body.
#7. Once you have hit a state of complete relaxation, your mind completely focused just on the movement of energy in and out of your body, ask yourself this important question: “If I could do anything, have anything, be anything or go anywhere, what would my dream life look like?” Allowing the energy that you have welcomed into your body and your intuition to guide you, begin to visualize this dream life. #8. When the timer goes up, slowly sit up and reach for the pen and paper. Write down everything that you can remember from the visualization exercise. What did it look like? What did it feel like? What emotions did it trigger? Write down every last detail.
#9. Once you have listed it all out, as crazy and over the top as it may seem, now is the time to look at it from a more practical perspective. What things in this dream life could you actually work towards today? Try not to look at this as a major, over the top shift in your life path. Instead, identify the smaller steps that will slowly move your life in that direction. Aim to list 10 different changes you can make today, regardless of how small they may seem. This will all add up to help move you towards great things! Write these 10 things on your paper beneath your dream life description.
#10. Snuff out your candle or smudging tool, thanking the Universe for its encouragement and motivation in your life. Take this paper and keep it on you at all times. Place it in your pocket or your wallet so that you have it on hand throughout the day. Anytime that you find yourself feeling discouraged, take it out and read it over. Make these 10 small changes the focus of the coming month.
