We all have anxiety on some level, for some of us it is more intense but that doesn’t mean it isn’t present in others. Regardless of how bad or how mild your anxiety is, knowing how to manage it can make a huge difference in your life overall.

Below I am going to go over some of the more common things that people tend to do to manage their anxiety or at least help them keep it under control when it’s spiraling out of their hands. While it’s hard to deal with, these things for many of us can help on some levels. That being said, if they don’t there is nothing wrong with seeking help elsewhere and getting the medication you need from a doctor if that is the path you choose.

9 Things That Will Help You Cope With Your Anxiety And Ease Your Mind:

1. Talk things out with those you trust.

While it might not always be easy, sometimes talking about what you’re feeling is important. This allows you to get advice and vent as needed. You will be surprised at how much better you feel after you start sharing the truth that lives inside of you.

2. Learn more about your triggers and how to avoid them.

If you can figure out what is causing your anxiety you can work through it or reduce your presence with triggers. Triggers are things that cause you to fly off the handle and they can be anything. They can be big or small, that all depends on the person.

3. Replace those negative thoughts with positive ones.

While this one is hard, the more you work at it the better you will get at doing it. You can replace your negative thoughts one by one with positive ones. At first, it will feel silly but the more you do it the more results you will find.

4. Don’t overdo it with caffeine and things of that nature.

Caffeine and alcohol can cause anxiety to become worse than it would be otherwise. Knowing how to limit yourself in these areas could save you a lot of trouble. While this is not easy for everyone, you can do it.

5. Look into your diet more and change it if it’s needed.

If you’re not eating healthily it could be taking a toll on you. Your body needs to be taken care of if you want your mind to also be taken care of. Keep this in your thoughts moving forth.

6. Remove yourself from the situation at hand.

If a situation is causing you too much stress, remove yourself from it. We all have our limits. Knowing those limits can change so much for each and every one of us.

7. Do not sell yourself short just because you have anxiety.

You are not just someone with anxiety, you are so much more than that. You care capable of so much and you need to be sure to never forget that. Things are not always what we may assume they are.

8. Focus on your breathing.

When you’re riled up and flustered, focus your breathing. Breathe in and out, really slow things down. This will help calm you in some of the worst situations, trust me.

9. Write about what you’re feeling and break it down.

If you do not understand what you’re going through, write it out. Sometimes things are easier to put into words when it comes to this kind of means. If at first, they do not flow, keep trying, you’ll get the hang of it.
