We all have our moments of feeling hopeless or helpless, but we don’t have to give them power over our beings. When we are overwhelmed giving into the feelings before us is NEVER the answer.
During times of weakness finding your strength is going to do so much more for you than throwing a pity party. Below I am going to go over some of the best things to do when you’re too stressed to function. These things will help you get through your problems and move onto where you need to be in life. Just because you feel like nothing can go right, doesn’t mean that everything is going wrong.
8 Things You Can Do To Relieve Stress When You’re Overwhelmed:
1. Sit alone in silence for a few minutes.
Take a few minutes to just breathe. Allow yourself to sit in silence and take in all that is going on. Just breathe in and out, let the stress go out with each breath.
2. Focus on the positives in your life.
Take a moment to focus on all that you have in your life. Look at all the good people and good things surrounding you. You probably have so much more than you realize.
3. Take a break.
If you need a break take one. There is nothing wrong with a little self-care. Don’t ever feel bad for doing what is best for your own wellbeing.
4. Write things out on paper.
Write everything that is bothering you out and really pour your soul into it. Get it all out on paper and then shred it. Get rid of it and don’t give it any more power.
5. Talk out your problems.
Talk your problems out with the people you trust. Don’t let them sit inside of you being unresolved. Work through the things bothering you and move forward properly.
6. Remove yourself from the situation and just move on.
If something is bothering you to the point where it is affecting your wellbeing and you can’t really do much about it remove yourself completely. Cut ties with this person or jump ship quickly. Do whatever you need to do to get out and far away.
7. Do something fun or have someone crack a few jokes.
When you’re stressed doing something fun might be the last thing on your mind, but it could make you feel ten times better. Find something to do or spend some time with a silly friend. Just let loose and have a lighthearted moment.
8. Go for a walk, run, or jog.
When you are stressed there is nothing better than getting those endorphins pumping! Exercise promotes positivity! While everyone works out in different ways, something as simple as taking a 20-minute walk will make you feel so much better.
