When it comes to loving ourselves, we all have to work hard at it. This kind of thing doesn’t just happen overnight and for some of us, even the smallest thing can throw us off in a big way.

Before you really love someone else, loving yourself is important. If you’re having trouble loving yourself you really need to work on that before diving too deeply into other things. Below I am going to go over some of the steps that we should all be taking to love ourselves more. Again, this isn’t easy but it is important.

7 Steps That Will Help You Love Yourself More:

Step #1 Spend Time With Yourself

Spending time with yourself is important. We as people need to be okay with being alone and doing things on our own because that in itself is inevitable. Sure, you may still get lonely here and there but overall you need to be able to be comfortable on your own.

Step #2 Figure Out More About Who You Are

We all spend periods of time having lost ourselves and learning more about who you are as a person during these periods is important. Knowing yourself is a very important thing moving forward. It helps you better understand where you are and how you’re going to be moving forward as a whole.

Step #3 Stop Selling Yourself Short

Selling yourself short is one of the worst things you can do as a person. We are all capable of more than we think and accepting that is crucial to moving through life. When you think you’re at your limit, there is always room to grow from there.

Step #4 Accept Your Flaws

We all have flaws, you’re not the only one who happens to have things that you dislike about yourself. For every bad thing you feel there is about you think of two good things to counter that. This will help you become a better version of who you truly are within and really appreciate yourself as a whole.

Step #5 Treat Yourself How You Treat Others

Stop treating yourself badly, start treating yourself how you treat other people. You deserve kindness, period. Don’t be so harsh on yourself, period.

Step #6 Let Go Of The Past

The past is not something that we can change, it is something we all need to work to let go of. The more you dwell on things and try to hold onto things you cannot redo the worse you’re going to feel. Holding onto the past too deeply is only going to make you feel worse and dislike yourself more. Forgive yourself for your mistakes.

Step #7 Take Things One Day At A Time

Stop focusing on the future and where you’re headed so drastically and take things as they come forth. One day at a time, smell the roses, and really allow yourself to relax as needed. Life is short and we need to make the most of each day we get.
