Mental strength is very important to have and while most of us have it on some level, growing even stronger is crucial as we move forth. While physical strength is something a lot of people work towards, mental strength should be placed up high as well.

For those who might not know, mental strength is basically the strength of your mind. Those who are mentally strong can handle their emotions, think things through properly, and are able to really hold calm even when under serious pressure. This concept in itself is also sometimes referred to as mental toughness but yet, the two are one and the same.

Below I am going to go over several things that can be done to increase your mental strength or mental toughness as a whole. While some of them might seem easy, they are all important. The more we do these things, the higher we can end up climbing as we grow.

7 Exercises You Can Do To Boost Your Mental Strength:

1. Meditate each and every day.

If you want to be mentally strong meditating can help. Through meditation we get to know ourselves on a level most would not be able to comprehend. I suggest meditating at least ten or twenty minutes each day.

2. Get to the core of things and work to understand what your beliefs are.

The more you understand the things you believe in the stronger you will come across as. This is because things are more set in stone than they would be otherwise. In that, you can be grounded properly and move forth on more stable ground.

3. Cut ties with people who do nothing but drain you and make you feel bad.

If someone is draining you of your energy and leaving you exhausted, cut ties with them. These people do not deserve your time or effort. Overcoming their presence is going to help you become stronger each time you have to face something of the sort.

4. Quit putting energy into things you cannot control at all.

There are always going to be things in this world that you cannot control and you need to be able to figure out what those things are so you don’t waste your time or effort. If you can’t change it, let it go. Your energy should be used wisely, as you become more and more mentally tough you will understand that better.

5. Let yourself be uncomfortable sometimes.

While it might not be fun to be uncomfortable, learning to allow yourself to deal with it sometimes could be crucial. Test your boundaries and step into the unusual from time to time. As you do this more and more your comfort zone will expand more properly.

6. Be aware of the progress you’re making.

We are all making progress as we move through life but only those who are mentally strong can see how far they’ve come. Look at what you’ve accomplished rather than how far you still have to go to get where you want to be.

7. Replace negative thoughts with positive and productive ones.

While replacing your negative thoughts with positive ones isn’t easy, it will help you to really see yourself more properly. Life is short and if you beat yourself down over and over you’re only going to end up weaker and weaker. Finding your strength isn’t as simple and clear cut as people make it out to be.
