Have you ever spent the day with someone who just emanated bad vibes, and then found that by the end of the day that their vibes had somehow rubbed off on you? And if you think about it, it only makes sense to protect ourselves from negativity.

When we are constantly surrounded by negative people we are being drained. If you do not properly protect yourself this will cause you to become exhausted energetically. You see, when you are spending time with someone who is what we would refer to as toxic or negative the whole time you’re with them their negative energy is beating down against your own energy. They are wearing you down and taking bits of you back with them time and time again.

When it comes to protecting yourself from the negative energies of others you have to be able to focus on your own energy. You cannot waste all your efforts trying to make a negative person into a positive one. Cutting ties with those who are overly toxic is probably for the best in any and all situations.

Be careful who you allow close and into your inner circle. Choose your friends wisely. No one should be influencing you in ways like a negative energy person would be. Below I am going to go over several ways you can protect yourself from these negative energy people. These will help in those cases where you cannot cut ties with the negative person.

5 Ways to Protect Yourself From Negative Energy People:

1. Limit the amount of time you have to spend with them.

By cutting back on the amount of time you have to spend with these people you are working to protect yourself. You are not overdoing it and leaving yourself completely drained each time you interact. For instance, if this person is a coworker, you limit your encounters to merely at work and do not see one another outside of work anymore.

2. Focus on your own energies.

By focusing on your own energies you are focusing on something you can control. If you focus on the energies of others all you’re doing is setting yourself up to fail. You only have the ability to change yourself.

3. Keep yourself as grounded as possible.

Being as grounded as you possibly can will help you to be more positive. Work to feel more connected with the Earth and allow your roots to run deep. I do this by going for a walk through nature but you do whatever works best for you.

4. Cleanse your own energy frequently.

Cleansing your own energy can consist of a number of things. For me, it is a mere meditation practice that leaves me feeling refreshed. Find what works for you and go from there.

5. Practice white light meditation as often as you see fit.

White light meditation is a form of meditation in which you use your mind’s eye to envision a white light radiating from within your being and surrounding you, it comes to where it would just touch over where your aura lies. This protects you throughout your day.

While some of these might not sound like much they can and will all make a difference in your life if you choose to implement them. Do you know any negative energy people? I for one know quite a few.
