While a lot of people think that having anxiety is a weakness, it’s really not. Sure, it is unfortunate in some situations and it can be quite frustrating to deal with but it also does a lot of good in our lives even if we cannot see it right off the bat.
As we move through life we learn a lot of different things and some of those things we would not be able to truly grasp if it were not for our anxiety. Now, for those who do not know anxiety is something that we all have on some level and is a perfectly normal emotion. However, some people have a large amount of it or have more of it in regards to specific things that presents itself as an anxiety disorder.
Anxiety disorders come with frequent intense/excessive amounts of ‘worry’ or ‘fear’ and can be quite complicated at best. They make doing some of the most common daily tasks a struggle for some of us. As someone who tends to be quite anxious in public, I have managed to really come to terms with the things I’ve learned all thanks to my anxiety and those things really make dealing with it a lot less bothersome in my opinion.
Below I am going to go over some of those things. If you have also noticed these things please feel free to let us know. Perhaps your anxiety has helped you in some ways even without you noticing it when it was happening.
5 Things Your Anxiety Can Teach You About Life:
1. There is no true way to be ‘prepared for anything.’
You can be prepared for every possible scenario and things may still play out differently. As a person with anxiety, you might think everything through in your mind for things to go completely different once you’re there and facing them. No matter what, this is a reality that cannot be avoided.
2. It’s okay to not be okay.
While a lot of people refuse to accept it, being ‘not okay’ is a part of life. We have to go through the hardpoints and rough spots to get to the good ones. If you’re never uncomfortable how would you appreciate the positive things in life?
3. There is no proper way to deal with emotions, everyone faces them differently.
We all deal with our emotions in our own ways. What works for one person might not work for you and vice versa. Not everything is as easy as it seems.
4. Breathing is more important than most realize.
When it comes to anxiety breathing properly is crucial. When you’re worked up and need to calm down, taking a step back and really letting yourself breathe can make or break a situation. Those who struggle with anxiety know how important it is to be able to really take in those deep breaths.
5. We are all capable of more than we think we are.
Even when we’re struggling, we can make it through the most uncomfortable situations. Sure, you might be anxious and you might be struggling but you’re capable of so much more than you realize. Every situation you make it through is a huge accomplishment, period.
