Astrology is quite popular in the world today, but it’s also something tons of people misunderstand in a wide range of ways. As with anything good or interesting in the world, there will always be people trying to twist it to fit what they want to push.

There are many myths when it comes to astrology and far too often I notice people falling for them. While some myths may seem more convincing than the rest, some of them are quite obvious and thus concerning in some ways. This planet we call home is full of misinformation and astrology is not an area misinformation is lacking in, at all.

If you have done research on the topic, then you know just how frustrating some things out there are. While adding astrology to your life on some level will benefit you on your journey, going about it in the wrong way will hold you back. Below I am going to go over some of the more common myths and break them down for you. If you’ve fallen victim to any of these, please know that they’re not as true as people will push you to believe.

5 Myths About Astrology That No One Should Believe:

Myth #1: There is a new 13th zodiac sign.

Chances are you’ve seen this one floating around online throughout the years. Yes, there is a constellation known as Ophiuchus but it is not new. It exists between Scorpio and Sagittarius. This constellation is not important in the Tropical zodiac. It was not included for a reason and while some astrologers do include Ophiuchus, most will not incorporate it into things as it is just not necessary. The way the sky is divided up is currently as it should be.

Myth #2: Astrology is just a trend.

Astrology is not a trend, it is something that has been present in this world since ancient times. Astrology has existed as far back as 25,000 years ago and perhaps even before then. It was a huge part of existence for the Babylonians, Greeks, and Egyptians. While it did vary in some ways throughout cultures looking to the stars for answers seems to be something we have done for far longer than a mere ‘trend’ would warrant.

Myth #3: Your Sun sign is the most important one.

When it comes to astrology as a whole, your Sun sign is just one of many important signs. You have a sign for each celestial body and those different signs influence different things. No one sign is more important than the others. They are all very important on their own.

Myth #4: Astrology and astronomy are the same things.

Astrology and astronomy are not the same things. Astronomy is the study of the universe and its contents outside of our atmosphere whereas astronomers examine the positions, motions, and so forth of celestial objects. Many people confuse the two for one another or assume they are the same thing. That being said the difference is quite clear.

Myth #5: Transitions don’t affect your personality.

The transitions in the celestial world affect you big time. You should without a doubt be paying attention to your natal chart. Transits are analysis’ of the planetary movements in comparison to your natal chart positions. Transits are not absolute, but they do make serious influences in our lives.
