We learn a lot of lessons in life, but some of the best ones have to be learned in the most uncomfortable situations. We do not get anywhere near as far if we avoid the hard things in life.

The comfort zone is a psychological space where a person feels safest and most comfortable. Unfortunately, most people live their entire lives in their comfort spot, but if everything is familiar and comfortable and safe then nothing will ever surprise or excite you either. We stay in these spots to keep ourselves from getting hurt, but we are really hurting ourselves.

Humans are not meant to stay forever safe, we are meant to go out and explore new territories, both inside and outside of ourselves. Our comfort zone should not be what we let define us. Risks are necessary in life and sometimes they bring us to the most wonderful things. Have you ever really put yourself out there? No, I don’t mean on a small scale, I mean have you ever truly dove out of your comfort zone into something spectacular?

This can be done in small steps or all at once but it really makes a huge difference. Below you will find a list of things that I have learned now that I do not let my comfort zone define me. There is so much more to life than we think. Even the most minuscule thing can have a huge impact on who we are and how happy we become in the end.

13 Things You Will Learn When You Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone:

1. No one is perfect.

Not one single person on this planet is perfect. You are not perfect and neither is that person you are jealous of. We all have our own flaws and there is nothing wrong with being perfectly imperfect. Love yourself more, you deserve it.

2. We must change to grow.

We cannot grow without change; change is an inevitable and beneficial part of life. Without change, we would not be where we are.

3. People do not look down on you as much as you think they do.

Just because you think people are judging you does not mean they are. People are far less crappy than we think they are. Not all people are worried about what the people around them are doing.

4. Sometimes we need to slow down.

Slowing down is never easy but it is sometimes very important. If you are getting too caught up in something a break might be needed. Don’t forget who you are.

5. There is nothing wrong with being wrong.

We are all wrong sometimes, but being wrong is not something to be ashamed of, it is something to learn from. We never stop learning new things in life.

6. You can be courageous and still be afraid.

Fear is not something that just disappears. You can be strong and brave all the while being afraid. There is nothing wrong with being afraid.

7. Your gut is always right.

We should listen to our intuition as often as we can. It always has our best interest in mind. This fight or flight response is happening for a reason.

8. Happiness is not something you can just find.

Happiness only comes from within, never let anyone tell you otherwise. Do not search for happiness in other people or things, search within and find your own.

9. We are all facing different things in life, kindness is important.

Life is not the same for anyone. You are facing different things than the people around you and they are handling those things in different ways than you would. We are all different and being kind to one another makes a huge impact on how we are in general. If you were down and out would you want someone being rude to you?

10. Friends come and go, negative people will never last.

Cutting negative people out of your life is not a bad thing. If someone is not serving a purpose they do not deserve to hold power over you. Friends will come and go, do your best to only allow the positive to stay.

11. We should never try to be someone we are not.

In this life, we all try too hard to be things that we are not. Just be yourself and let things fall into place. Be the best you that you can be and live your life how you want to live it.

12. We only get treated the way we let people treat us.

If you let people treat you like terribly you will be treated terribly. People can only do things to you that you allow them to do. Do not be a doormat

13. If you don’t believe in yourself no one will.

Believe in yourself above all else. You should always be your own best cheerleader. If you do not believe in yourself how do you expect others to? Once again, be the best version of yourself that you can be.
