You might want to be the best mom you can be, but that doesn’t mean you have to be perfect. The perfect mom doesn’t exist, and the sooner you come to terms with that, the better off things will be on you and your children in the long-run.
There is no handbook on how to be the best mother in the world, but in time you will learn that if you’re a happy mother who takes care of her needs as well as her children’s needs, you will be a great mom. You don’t have to stress over your mistakes as much or break down when you can’t accomplish what you want, just do your best and support your children in all they choose to do and be in life. Instead of obsessing over the small things your children are getting wrong, reinforce the things they’re getting right and teach them to be happy by allowing them to see you in this light.
No, you’re not going to be happy 24/7 but if you spend time promoting happiness in your life you will be happy a lot of the time. Sure, you might slip up here and there or find that things are becoming a bit too overwhelming depending on the situation, but that won’t hold you back. Just because you fall apart sometimes doesn’t mean you’re an entirely unhappy mother or that you’re not doing your job properly. We are only human.
If you want to be a truly happy mom, don’t bother trying to hide your frustrations from the world. It’s okay to be a little irritated sometimes, and it’s alright to have that negative side come out here and there. Bottling those things will only make them worse and turn you into an overall unhappy person, which we don’t want.
If you’re meeting your children’s needs, and they have smiles on their faces a lot of the time, then you’re doing your job well, and you deserve the recognition you might not necessarily be getting. Through seeing this side of your children, you should be happy and thus bring out more of that positive and amazing side of you. While we might think our kids need us more than we need them, things feel quite the opposite in a mother’s eyes.
Your kids will love you even if you make mistakes sometimes, they’re not going to hate you because you are having a bad day or because things aren’t exactly going well at that moment, so don’t worry about all of that. Your kids need you to be comfortable and content in your life with them, they don’t want you to be obsessed over being a superhero all the time because to them, you’re a superhero even when it doesn’t seem like it.
Things aren’t always what they seem and even if you feel like everything is falling apart, you can hold your own.
