While you might not already be aware, in Georgia there is quite the attraction in a rural county known as Elbert County. This being the ‘Guidestones.’
The Guidestones are huge slabs, four to be exact, and they have ten ‘commandments’ on them but not the ones you would expect, these commandments are not the ones you would find in your average Christian bible. Not only that but they also work as an astronomical calendar and according to Atlas Obscura every day at noon the sun shines through a narrow hole in the structure and illuminates the day’s date on an engraving. While not many people know much about the origin of these stone slabs, Atlas Obscura notes that they were in 1979 commissioned by someone who went by the fake name of ‘R.C. Christian’ and that they were created by the Elberton Granite Finishing Company. This ‘monument’ of sorts was completed in 1980 and from there it has become more of a mystery as this man’s real name was never uncovered.
The 10 commandments written on these Guidestones are as follows:
1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
2. Guide reproduction wisely – improving fitness and diversity.
3. Unite humanity with a living new language.
4. Rule passion – faith – tradition – and all things with tempered reason.
5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
8. Balance personal rights with social duties.
9. Prize truth – beauty – love – seeking harmony with the infinite.
10. Be not a cancer on the Earth – leave room for nature – leave room for nature
There is a marker for these stones that calls them Guidestones to an age of reason and well, everyone who comes across them can feel just how mysterious they truly are. No one can really pin down things exactly. Some people even think the Guidestones may have been commissioned to be made by groups of people who were part of the New World Order or something of the sort. That all having been said, considering it has been so long, we may never learn who was really behind these interesting slabs. To learn more about this take a look at the video below.
