While the people we’re around do influence us on some levels, sometimes that’s not in the ways we would expect for it to be. In many cases, people come into our lives even if just for short periods to remind us how not to act/be in this world.
Not everyone you come across is going to be a positive person or someone who will benefit you on your journey in the ways you want them to. Some of the people you find closest in your life will show you how not to treat other people by showing you what it feels like to be treated badly. They will knock you down and never offer a hand to help you back up, but we still learn a lot from these people.
That being said, there is nothing wrong with letting go of these people and refusing to allow them to hold power over your life. If they’re showing you how not to treat others, you shouldn’t be allowing them to treat you that way either. You deserve the treatment you give to others however, beating them down as well won’t do any good. Cutting ties and moving on is your best bet and will feel great once all is said and done.
Learn the lessons that the universe wants you to learn by presenting these people before you and move on from them. We are not meant to dwell on these things or hold these toxic people in our lives, we are meant to learn and grow as human beings experiencing this world and if that’s what you’re doing, you’re on the right path.
When someone hurts you or does something that makes it clear they don’t have your best interest in mind, remember that but don’t let it keep happening. Move on from that person and in the future don’t let those who do the same as close as you did that initial individual. Become a better version of yourself through the hard times and frustrating moments you face.
We are shaped and molded by the experiences we go through and we can either allow these experiences to define us or we can grow from them. That is our choice to make. You as a person are capable of so much and cutting out those who damage you time and time again is no mistake.
Just because they came into your life for a reason doesn’t mean they’re meant to be with you or by your side forever. Knowing when to let go and what lessons to learn is important. Never close yourself off from the optimistic side within. How many lessons have the people you’ve met through the years taught you? Do you remember a specific situation or person that made you realize how you should not treat others moving forth?
Never let someone make you feel bad for doing what is best for you. As noted above learn the lesson and move on. This is your life and you need to be making the most of it, period.
