While it might not always seem like it, a lot goes into keeping a secret. You can’t just tell a random person something and expect them to keep it to themselves.

If you are going to share your secrets with someone you need to make sure you’re sharing them with someone who will actually keep them. Don’t waste your time feeding information into drama queens or people who like to run their mouths. While we might think we know who we can trust and who we can’t the truth is you have to really look at a person and figure out if they have the traits that make them worthy of our trust above all else.

For instance, if you happen to have the following traits even just one or two of them, you’re probably much better at keeping secrets than those without them. These qualities are what make up a person who is capable of keeping the most serious secrets. How many people do you know that are able to keep your secrets properly?

5 Qualities That Indicate You Can Keep A Secret:

1. You are not interested in gossip.

If you’re not the kind of person who likes to indulge in gossip you’re probably not going to be interested in spreading gossip either. This meaning you don’t want to air out other people’s dirty laundry. You’d rather just keep things as they are and let everything play out as the universe sees fit.

2. You are someone with a lot of humility.

You’re not the kind of person that likes to be all over the news or have a lot of people talking about you. You don’t want to spread other people’s secrets because you don’t see it as something that will do you any good. The more you share about others the more a spotlight will be placed on you as well and you know that properly.

3. You have a deep sense of loyalty.

When you’re a loyal person you don’t want to hurt the person you’re most loyal to. This meaning if they tell you not to share a secret they told you with other people, you won’t. You’re not going to hurt them in that manner and you expect the same from them as well. It’s just how you operate as a person.

4. You respect other people’s privacy properly.

Through having this sense of respect for other people and their privacy as well as their boundaries you don’t want to share things that might make them uncomfortable. You allow them to come forth with things as they see fit on their own time. You wouldn’t push them to share a secret if they were not ready to, period.

5. You don’t like to break ethics in general.

People with high levels of ethics, in general, are not willing to let go of that kind of thing. Sharing other people’s secrets is a big no-no for them for a lot of reasons, and they don’t bother with it. They as you might expect allow things to happen organically.
