Right now in rough times like these, we all need to start looking at the bright side. Once all is said and done, we will all be much more thankful and grateful for the small things.
While we don’t usually think about how much of a privilege it is to be able to go do the things we want to do when we want to do them but now, things are quite clear. Right now we can’t go do small things like eat in a restaurant, go to the gym, or even just get down with the boogie on a crowded dance floor.
As time passes and this pandemic is put behind all of us we will get back to normal but we shouldn’t forget how trying these times have been. While we are still lucky enough to be stuck at home in the comfort of our own places, going out is something we didn’t realize was so important for many of us. I for one never realized how important getting out and about was for me when I actually did it. While I don’t leave the house but once a week normally, being able to only go get groceries has taken a small toll on my mental state in some ways.
Things really did seem to change overnight and that in itself is the scariest part to me. A lot of people don’t realize how important the small things are and well, this in many ways should be a wake-up call. If you miss being able to do normal things, you should resonate big-time with the thing below.
5 Reasons Why We Should Be Grateful For The Small Things:
1. Being grateful for the small things helps us to be more mindful.
The more mindful we are the better right? We all need to try and be as in the moment as possible in order to be happy. Being grateful helps with that big time. Instead of focusing on the things you don’t have you are more focused on what you do have and where you are presently in the moment before you.
2. You learn that not everything is about you.
The more grateful we are as people the more we realize how small we truly are in the grand scheme of things. While sometimes we might get a big head, grounding ourselves in reality can fix that. Life is about a lot more than just us.
3. It is a reminder to slow down.
The more grateful and thankful we are the more we will appreciate things. This allows us to slow down and really take things in. We don’t just rush through the motions as we would otherwise.
4. Things can actually change overnight.
The things you have and are able to do can be gone in the blink of an eye. It’s better to appreciate them now while you have them than to miss them more later on. While that might sound harsh, it’s important to note.
5. You do already have the things that you need to be happy, if you’re willing to see them.
While there are things you want in life as long as you have what you need you are fine, right? Your wants might be intense sometimes but the things you need are before you. We through being thankful are much more able to see how truly blessed we are.
