It can become easy to grow stagnant and feel stuck in life at times, it happens to the best of us. However, no matter how stuck we may feel, there is always a way for us to turn things around and make our life better.
You may be shaking your head. Sometimes, it’s hard to believe we have any control over our lives, especially when surrounded by chaos, or when we are in a tough situation. But these obstacles aren’t the end, not even close. There are ways you can take charge and create your reality, and these methods are simple and easy to implement habits that anyone can incorporate into their daily life.
Here are 12 ways to create your reality and take charge of your life today.
1. Build a vision board.
A vision board is a place where you put your goals to see visually. You can decorate it and make it artistic, or you can make it simple. Write down the most important areas of your life on it (family, career, health, etc.) and list goals under each one. Decorate it however you like. But the goal is to create a roadmap of what you want from your life.
2. Be grateful.
Be grateful now for what you have. Sit down and contemplate what you are happy about yourself or your life right now. Even if you are struggling, be grateful for yourself for holding it together. Gratitude rewires our brain and invites positivity into our life. It’s a major game-changer.
3. Exercise.
Studies show that exercise releases endorphins, which boost mood and overall energy. It makes you feel good, inside and out, but even better, exercise builds mental strength. It shows you what you are capable of, and it truly does create better mental health.
4. Eat better.
I’m not saying eating better will solve all of your problems, but it enhances your life. You don’t even have to eat healthy or better all of the time, but when you start making it a point to take better care of yourself, the results will work their way into all parts of your life too. And additionally, eating healthy will make you feel great!
5. Understand your reality.
Come to terms with where you are at now on your journey. Even the parts of it that are hard to cope with. And then decide where you want to go from here. Make realistic goals for what you want, and then take baby steps to reach them.
6. Love yourself.
I know it sounds cliché, but there will be times when willpower will not be present, when motivation will be gone. When this happens, you have to love yourself and commit to yourself enough to be able to keep pushing forward, even when you feel like you can’t. You deserve that kind of love.
7. Learn how to live in the moment.
It can be easy to get caught up in your mind or to get stuck in an anxious thought or worry about the future, but when you do this frequently, you will lose sight of the present. Don’t get so hung up on the destination that you miss the journey.
8. Connect with yourself.
It’s important to maintain a connection to yourself, much like any connection in life. You should feed your connection to yourself more because through knowing yourself you can grow.
9. Hold yourself accountable.
When you mess up or are taking part in toxic behavior, own it. You are the one who determines your values at the end of the day, and you will have to hold yourself accountable to them, or no one else will.
10. Let go of the past.
The past can be hard to move forward from, especially if there are parts of it that you are unable to resolve. However, you cannot move forward without letting go of the past and looking forward.
11. Develop emotional maturity.
Emotional maturity is the ability to understand and manage your own emotions. And while it may sound daunting or even impossible to further your emotional maturity and improve it, it isn’t. There are several exercises you can use to help you work on it. Here’s a video to help.
12. Stop blaming others.
Oftentimes, when we feel we cannot move forward from a bad part of our life, it’s because we are blaming others or holding someone else accountable for our life. Sometimes things indeed happen beyond our control, and in many cases, we cannot control what happens to us. But, we can control how we bounce back.
