If you’re feeling clogged up and having trouble getting rid of phlegm or mucus right now, you’re probably nowhere near alone. The virus we’re facing in current times so drastically can affect the lungs in this way big time.
While most people do not think they will get ‘that sick’ if they come down with COVID-19, the truth is until we get the virus we do not know if we are going to be affected in a big way or not. Sure, the average person’s symptoms are not that severe but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be prepared things that may be to come. I recently came across a video online that showcased two nurses who were seemingly unnamed showing viewers how to pat the back in order to drain mucus from patients who had COVID-19.
This is something we could also do in relation to other respiratory issues depending on how we’re being affected as well. With most people with this virus quarantining at home knowing how to keep your airways open properly and get rid of mucus is a big deal. If you or someone you know has this virus or something that is affecting them in a similar way, doing this “CPT’ method as one of the two nurses calls it might be beneficial.
The main nurse speaking within this video says that she also suggests we drink lots of hot water and hot tea to help keep mucus down if you feel it building up doing chest physiotherapy a few times a day might make a big difference in how you feel. This she says helps drain the lungs and is easy to do on your own at home.
She even notes that even if our children are well we should consider doing it a few times a day to them just to keep things going and so that you know no mucus within them is building up. From that point, she begins showing how to pat the back of another person who may be facing mucus build up. As you can see below, this truly isn’t that complicated and most people will not have any trouble doing this on the people inside their homes.
I for one will be making sure my partner and I do this at least once or twice a day even though we’re both well. As this pandemic continues things like this should be considered potentially life-saving information. The more educated we are on how to properly help one another, the better.
