While being an empath is a wonderful gift, it is also sometimes a bit of a setback. If you don’t know how to manage yourself properly, things could get quite frustrating quickly.
Empaths, as you may be aware, are people who feel and absorb the emotions of others. They are able to take them on as their own and because of this, connections with others are quite complicated. Empaths usually feel very compelled to help those around them and end up allowing their own energies to be drained.
7 Important Lessons All Empaths Have To Learn:
1. Sometimes it is okay to say no.
You do not have to agree to do things you do not want to do. If you have a lot on your plate sometimes saying no is appropriate. You are your own person and you are not always going to want to do things that others want you to do and there is nothing wrong with that.
2. Other people are not like you.
Other people are not going to get you in the ways you wish they could. If they are not an empath they will not truly understand. This is something you have to come to terms with.
3. Your boundaries are important.
You must have personal boundaries. As an empath they are crucial. Set your boundaries and do not let anyone cross them.
4. If you aren’t taking care of yourself you can’t help others.
You have to put yourself first. If you are not taking care of yourself, how do you expect to take care of others? Don’t let your own wellbeing fall through the cracks.
5. You cannot save everyone.
You cannot save everyone. It just isn’t possible. While you can try your hardest there will always be those who are just too far gone.
6. You don’t have to give toxic people the time of day.
Just because someone seems to need you does not mean you have to help them. While you will want to you shouldn’t give toxic people the time of day. If they bring you down there is no reason why you should be building them up.
7. Some people don’t want your help.
Some people won’t accept your help and you have to understand that. Not everyone wants to be helped and there is sometimes nothing you can do about that. Pushing will only make things worse.
