Elon Musk is someone we see articles about quite frequently and with good reason, but he is truly a much different person than you might think. Musk recently did a podcast for the JRE, Joe Rogan Experience and it has been the talk of the internet ever since.
Chances are you’ve seen a lot of posts about the joint Musk smoked while on the podcast which is noteworthy, yes but is not anywhere near the highlight of the podcast. This podcast really brought Musk out of his shell and showed us a side of him that most people probably didn’t even realize existed. He goes over everything from making hats to flamethrowers and how dangerous artificial intelligence really could end up being.
This article is going to be able the interesting points he brought up during the podcast so if you’re still hung up on the pot smoking and alcohol drinking, perhaps you should take a minute to come back to reality. One of the most important parts of this podcast consists of Rogan and Musk going back and forth talking about the idea that our existence in itself could be a simulation.
Musk says as follows when the topic is brought up:
“The argument for the simulation is quite strong, because … if you assume any rate of improvement at all then games will be indistinguishable from reality, or civilization will end. One of those two things will occur. Therefore we are most likely in a simulation because we exist.”
“We could be in base reality.”
This is something Musk has gone over in the past but is quite mindblowing in many ways. From here Musk and Rogan begin to go over the multiverse but in Musk’s explanation are not multiverses but more-so multiple simulations. He mentions that we could possibly create a simulation within our simulation and so forth. He says that if we are a simulation then the world outside of our simulation is most likely very boring because when it comes to creating a simulation we want to make things more interesting. Does this make any sense to you?
Now, another important part of this podcast to note is what Musk has to say on fossil fuel. He says that everything we seem to be doing right now is just an experiment when it comes to the fuel industry and that it is easily the dumbest experiment in human history. He says that while he hopes for the best but we should not be removing fossil fuels from the ground and putting them into the atmosphere, in no one’s mind should that be a good idea.
“We know that sustainable energy is the endpoint. So why are we doing this experiment? It’s an insane experiment. It’s the dumbest experiment in human history.”
While I would love to go on I feel like you should just hear his words for yourself. Please feel free to check out the podcast below. It will begin about 40 minutes in if you want to see the whole thing just click back to the beginning.
