The world of photography is one with endless possibilities. Those who are skilled enough to make this kind of art, are truly amazing.
I recently came across the work a pet photographer named Seth Casteel and was blown away. This award-winning photographer clearly has quite the talent. The photo-series I found was of dogs underwater and was more than enough to put me in a better mood for the rest of my day.
Casteel’s ‘about me’ on his website goes as follows:
“Seth Casteel is an award-winning photographer and the New York Times Best Selling Author of Underwater Dogs, Underwater Puppies, Underwater Babies, Pounce and five children’s books. In February of 2012, Seth’s series of photos showcasing dogs diving into swimming pools became an Internet sensation overnight, reaching over 100 million people in less than 24 hours. This sudden attention resulted in a book deal with Little, Brown and Company. Now with over half a million copies in print around the world, Underwater Dogs is one of the best selling photography books of all-time. Seth has gone on to publish a total of nine books.
Seth also has the privilege of hosting FINDING FIDO on Z Living, a reality TV series about dog adoption! In each 30-minute episode, Seth matches awesome families with awesome rescue dogs!
Seth lives in Nashville, TN. He loves 80’s music and is a fan of the DeLorean automobile. He plans to one day go back in time, and change nothing. His rescue dog, Baby Nala, is his very best pal. People often say that Seth and Nala have similar hairstyles. If you watch Finding Fido, Seth wants you to know that his hair might be looking “a little crazy”. In his spare time, Seth enjoys taking care of his hundreds of plants, playing pinball, and brushing Baby Nala.”
To Casteel underwater dogs is more than mere ‘cute pictures’ It is an exploration of the emotions of the dogs themselves. He is clearly quite passionate about what he does and the animals that come with doing that. Dogs are to Casteel and to most of us quite inspiring.
Capturing images underwater is no simple task and Casteel makes it seem almost effortless. Chances are you may have seen a few of these circling around online actually, they have kind of taken the world by storm in many ways. These photos consist of about 80 portraits but below I am going to include some of my favorites. You can click here to see the collection in full.
