Sometimes it can seem like life is all work and no reward. If you are feeling unfulfilled with the progress you’re making in life, the five-hour rule might be the life change you’ve been waiting for.
Nobody really knows what they’re doing in life, I mean it’s not like we have an instructional booklet or anything. We all go to work, school, and then repeat, but what if that isn’t making enough progress for you? If you’ve been feeling stuck in life and unable to make a positive change where you need one, you should give the five-hour rule a try. It’s an extremely helpful practice and is followed by many successful people like Mark Zuckerberg, Oprah Winfrey, and Bill Gates.
We all have goals and ambitions in life, but sometimes we can become confused as to which direction we should be going in. It’s not uncommon to feel this way, as many people do. This feeling can really get in the way of your productivity. However, you can fix it all with something called the five-hour plan!
But what exactly is the five-hour plan? Well, it’s spending five hours a week on nothing but deliberately learning something! It doesn’t matter what you’re learning about or trying to perfect, it just matters that you’re dedicating five hours a week to learn something new! You can spend however long you want, as long as it’s at least five hours. You have to set aside all personal endeavors and day to day activities to pursue something new. There are many ways to go about doing so too!
Many people use the five-hour plan as a guide to reading books. Books are thought to be essential in preserving the health of your brain and training your mind to learn new things. Some people spend five hours a week doing nothing but reading a good book! You can do this by keeping a book with you during your free time and reading it any chance you get! You can also spend your five hours as a time of reflection. You can assess everything you’ve dealt with in the past week and assess what you did right or wrong, and what you learned from your experiences.
Aside from spending time reflecting or reading, others use the time to experiment with new things. There’s always something to be obtained by coming out of your comfort zone and trying something new. Why not do this for five hours per week? Embark on a new adventure that you’ve always wanted to go on, or try learning a new skill! You very well might learn of your most favorite hobby!
The point of the exercise is to set aside time every week to learn something new. It doesn’t matter what you’re learning about or how you’re doing it, as long as you’re spending your time practicing some kind of new skill in life!
