It’s a massive misconception that our star sign is the only astrological sign that can be used to understand our personalities. In fact, there is a multitude of different zodiacs, from all over the world, but the one we are touching on today is the Native American zodiac.

Because while the Western zodiac that we follow goes pretty deep, the profiles listed below explain a lot about the different signs. But, rather than the typical signs listed in Western astrology, the Natives used totem animals they spotted in the sky.

Red Hawk (March 21- April 19)
The Red Hawk is a very strong-willed individual, who sets their site on something and stops at nothing to get it. They make wonderful leaders and are goal-getters. While they can be intense, they also have a tendency to rub some people the wrong way, because they can come off as somewhat pushy.
Beaver (April 20-May 20)
The Beaver is a practical sign, that loves to enjoy themselves, but also knows the value of hard work. Because of the fact that they are so practical, they oftentimes have the discipline to reach for their goals and because of their practical approach, they are likely to obtain them. Conversely, Beaver signs are also a bit materialistic. They love their possessions and enjoy being able to have nice things.
Deer (May 21-June 20)
Those who fall under the deer sign are very intelligent. When they need to act fast they do. However, they are mostly timid with people they do not know. When they are in the presence of their closest friends and family, though, they are liable to talk your ears off. Because of their level-headed mentality, they are great at helping to resolve disputes and arguments.
Woodpecker (June 21-July 22)
Woodpeckers make great homemakers and tend to value their families above all else. They have big hearts and make loyal partners. While for the most part, this is wonderful, they also have a tendency to be overbearing, which can be difficult at times for the people they love most.
Salmon (July 23- August 22)
Salmon signs are very expressive and have outgoing and fun personalities. They are oftentimes very attractive and enjoy showing off. To be quite honest, they want to be the center of attention much of the time, and while their presence demands it, they can also be quite draining.
Brown Bear (August 23- September 22)
Those who fall under the sign of the Brown Bear are also practical-minded, much like the Beaver, but have a more level-headed approach. They are great problem solvers and are oftentimes hard workers. They tend to think things through slowly, rather than acting too quickly. And while they are perfectionists, they can also be highly critical of those around them.
Raven (September 23-October 22)
The Raven’s give great advice because they are fair-minded and diplomatic. They like to think things through from all angles, but because of that, they have a tendency to get caught up and even a bit stuck on a decision. Regardless, they are quite passionate. However, this can lead them to be over-demanding of those around them.
Snake (October 23- November 21)
The Snake sign is a very deep person, and they are oftentimes very guarded. If you need to share a secret with someone, the Snake is the one to share it with, because they keep things to themselves. They are very passionate about the people they love but do not make them angry, because they will lash back at you.
Owl (November 22-December 21)
Those who fall under the sign of the Owl are extremely adventurous. They love to learn new things and visit new places. And they are in constant pursuit of growth and advancement. One thing to keep in mind when dealing with one is that they can be quite blunt. So don’t ask if you don’t want the truth.
Snow Goose (December 21-January 20)
Snow Geese are highly disciplined individuals who are passionate about their interests. Because of this, they are typically very successful in life. Keep in mind though, they hold high standards for everyone around them, including themselves. So, they can become easily frustrated with themselves and everyone they know.
Otter (January 21- February 18)
Otters are individuals that dance to the beat of their own drums. They tend to think outside of the box and do things the way they want. Because of this, they are wonderful problem solvers and revolutionary thinkers. Conversely, though, they can come off as a bit odd at times.
Wolf (February 19-20)
Wolves love their closest friends and family with all their hearts. But, they also have a tendency to withdraw and stay to themselves. For a balanced wolf sign, a good balance of time with others and time with themselves is necessary. With the right balance, these signs can be the most loyal companions you will ever meet.
