I love straightforward people. There is just something to be said of someone who says what they mean, and means what they say.
You never have to wonder where you stand with someone who always speaks their mind, and honestly, that’s a breath of fresh air to me. Not only that, but if you think about it, straightforward people think about things much differently than most of us. And to be honest, I think we could all learn a thing or two from them.
Here are 12 things only straightforward people realize.
1. Honesty is the best policy.
Straightforward people realize that honesty is almost always the best way to go. It may not be what everyone wants to hear, but really, there’s no way to please everyone. So, it’s better to just speak your truth.
2. Sometimes, the truth hurts.
The truth can hurt sometimes that is true. But, it’s almost always what people need to hear. And if they can do something to change the truth (to improve) they may not ever get the chance if they don’t hear it first.
3. Being honest doesn’t equal cruelty.
Just because you are blatantly honest does not mean you are cruel. On the contrary, to be authentic and completely honest is not cruel at all, it’s far less cruel than lying or deceiving someone.
4. Being honest with yourself is important.
Straightforward behavior starts from within. You have to be honest with yourself, or you will never be able to be authentic with other people. And straightforward people realize this.
5. Respect matters.
When you lie to someone or sugarcoat the truth, you will lose all respect. And while some may value being perceived as kind and warm all of the time, a straightforward person realizes they can be kind and still be honest.
6. It’s better to act at the moment.
Rather than holding back, a straightforward person knows that time is of the essence. When something happens, or words are said, they don’t hesitate to speak at the moment and say what is on their mind.
7. Communication is key.
Communication is important, and while most of us know that, not all of us live by this. Straightforward people understand that to fully communicate, they have to do so by communicating their truth.
8. Life is short.
Another thing that straightforward people realize is that life is short. Yes, you can hold back and say what you feel later, but honestly, you never know when your last breath is. It’s better to say it now.
9. Life may be hard sometimes, but we are in this together.
Life is hard, this much is true. But, we are all a team. We need to work together and to do that, we have to be able to be transparent with each other.
10. Everything is negotiable.
Straightforward people do not allow themselves to be constrained by imaginary lines. Instead, they stand firm in their truth and know that sometimes, they have to stand strong and say what needs to be said.
11. There is a place and a time.
While telling the truth and being honest is something that straightforward people value, they also know that there are cases in which they should stand back. It’s important to know when and where to say your piece and sometimes, there are exceptions.
12. Lies catch up to you.
In the end, when you lie or say something dishonest, it’s going to catch up with you. And in the meantime, you can spend your time waiting on that to happen, while biting your nails and stressing yourself out. But, straightforward people don’t sit around waiting for their lies to come back, because they don’t lie.
