In life, we will make many investments, and place our focus on many things, hoping for a good payoff. However, the biggest investments we can make, are the ones we make in ourselves.
For most of us, when we think of investments, we think about business, finances, or anything involving money. However, the investment you make in yourself isn’t about money. It’s about energy. It’s about time, and it’s really about effort.
If you don’t believe me, here are 5 ways you should invest in yourself immediately for the biggest payoff.
1. Make your mental health a priority.
It’s not selfish to make your mental health a priority. Learn what your boundaries are, and practice using them. Say no when you can’t or simply don’t want to participate in something. Take breaks to regroup and get your mind right. Take care of yourself, and truly love yourself.
2. Make clear goals for your life.
Goals are important. For many people, it’s easy to wait and set clear goals later. But the sooner you get clear on your goals, write them down and make an actionable plan for obtaining them, the sooner you can move towards achieving them.
3. Break your worst habit.
What is a bad habit that holds you back? Are you a shopping addict, an emotional eater, or do you simply waste hours on your phone? Whatever it is, do some research, and align yourself with the energy and habits that help you break free.
4. Make good habits a part of your routine.
It can be said that the quality of our life lies within our routines and habits. If we spend much of our time engaged in bad habits, and never incorporate good habits into our life, how can we expect to live a quality life? Start small. Stretch in the morning, or meditate. Read more books, spend less time on your phone. Do some yoga. Eat healthy home-cooked meals. Do what you can and slowly implement good habits. Your future self will thank you.
5. Dedicate yourself to lifelong learning.
Make a simple promise to yourself: “I will never stop learning.” And follow through. Purchase some Udemy classes about your passion, or use SkillShare, buy some books, take a few college classes. Never stop pursuing your passions and dreams!
