Emotional exhaustion is no laughing matter, the more you allow it to run rampant in your life the worse off you’re going to be. You could even be facing this issue without realizing it, the more you know the better you can protect yourself. 

Emotional exhaustion comes in a lot of different forms and isn’t always the same for each of us. A lot of people actually tend to realize the issue once things have progressed to a point that is quite intense. Emotional exhaustion has a lot of different causes as well, but for the most part, it stems from constant stress or being unable to find a means of release.

Below I am going to go over some of the things we tend to do that can lead to emotional exhaustion and how they affect us. If you’re doing these things you might need to stop so that emotional exhaustion can become a thing of the past for you. While it will take time, you can overcome anything that this world throws your way, remember that.

5 Things You Might Be Doing That Are Causing Emotional Exhaustion:

1. Comparing yourself to other people.

The more we compare ourselves to others the worse off we are going to feel. We are our own people and you as a human need to know that. No one is the same, everyone is dealing with their own problems. Life is not as simple as it sounds.

2. Refusing to deal with the stress you’re feeling.

We all deal with stress and if you’re refusing to accept and face it, you need to make some changes. Just because it’s overwhelming doesn’t mean that you cannot let go of it. Do not allow any of the things going on in your life to hold power over you in your life.

3. Setting your expectations to an unrealistic level.

Your expectations for yourself and the people around you need to be realistic. The more unrealistic your goals and expectations are the harder it is going to be for you to achieve them. You are going to get further behind with each step forward and it is going to drag you down in the end.

4. Doing too much for people who refuse to be there for you.

People who refuse to be there for us when we need them deserve no place in our lives. If you are doing all you can for someone who isn’t willing to do the same ties need to be cut. Sometimes closing yourself off from someone is your best option.

5. Taking on too many tasks at once.

We all need breaks here and there and should be aware of our own limits. You should never agree to something you cannot handle and you should always be willing to ask for help when it’s needed. Life is too short to spend it running around like a chicken with your head cut off.
