We all go through ups and downs in our relationships and how we handle those ups and downs defines how we move forward. You cannot expect someone to be there for you when you’re not there for them or vice versa.

If you’ve ever been stuck wondering if you should stay with someone or move on, you know how painful and complicated making that decision is. It comes with a lot of emotion, stress, and worry. Whether you’ve been with your partner for a few months or several years, there is no easy way to say goodbye or simple choice of when to cut ties.

Below I am going to go over some of the more obvious signs that should indicate that you’re with someone you shouldn’t be with. Some of these signs will be quite apparent and others hard to spot. If these things are present within your relationship, you’re clinging to something you should have let go of long ago. Now is the time to find yourself and be single for a bit, give yourself the things you truly deserve.

11 Signs That Your Relationship Cannot Be Saved:

1. You know in your heart you’re not happy.

If you know in your heart you’re not happy you’re wasting everyone involved’s time. Being happy is not something you can compromise in a relationship. Calling it quits is important when you’re not feeling positive about anything anymore.

2. Your relationship is lacking in the intimacy area.

Being in love and dating, in general, is all about intimacy. If there is no intimacy then things will begin to crumble. The longer this goes on the less and less you will want to be with the person you’re with.

3. You don’t think about a future with this person.

This person just isn’t someone you see yourself with in five years and you know it. Everything you plan regarding your future is done from a single stance even though you’re anything but single. This is a tricky situation and should be handled with care.

4. You feel like you’re pretending to be someone you’re not.

You should never pretend to be someone you’re not. If your partner wants to change you then he or she doesn’t want you in the first place. Our lovers should love us for who we are not who we could be.

5. You’d rather not spend time with your significant other.

When you’re in a real committed and positive relationship spending time with one another is important. If you’re not doing well and you’re both avoiding one another like the plague something serious is wrong. As a couple, you should not be trying your hardest to stay out of one another’s way.

6. You’re always saying mean things to one another.

As far as relationships goes, toxic ties should always be cut and remain cut. If you are both constantly beating one another down why stay together? You both deserve people who will build you up not pull you apart.

7. Everything he or she does gets under your skin.

While you’re going to get under one another’s skin, if you hate your partner stop trying to be with them. At the end of the day your partner is someone you should know that you love without a doubt in your mind. Even when you’re fighting or arguing, you still hold one another close.

8. You’re holding on out of fear of being single.

Getting too attached too quickly can really mess you up. Far more people in this world are scared of being single than you might think. You have to remember to ask yourself if you’re with your partner for the right reasons or just out of convenience.

9. You cannot talk to your partner without fighting.

As lovers, you should be able to sit down and discuss things. Communication is one of the most important things in a relationship. You cannot do without being able to talk through the problems that come forth.

10. You cannot come to your partner when you need comfort.

You and your partner should always be able to come to one another for advice or a shoulder to cry on. You should be there for one another no matter what happens in this crazy world. As lovers, you should know that your partner is never going to judge you if he or she does then you should see it as a huge red flag.

11. Your partner has nothing in common with you.

We all want to be with people we can do things with and if we have nothing in common that is a bit hard. You and your partner need to be able to get along enough to be able to stay together through the years. If his or her hobbies make you miserable perhaps they’re not the one for you.
