As we grow older we face a lot of things and one of those things is dealing with the traumas and issues from our past. We might not have realized it at the time, but we went through some sh!t and now, we need to work to heal from exactly that.

Trauma affects everyone differently and what breaks one person apart might not really bother you much, that is why you need to know what is affecting you the most. This kind of thing leaves lasting issues in our lives whether it was emotional neglect as a child, physical abuse, or something else entirely, you need to be able to uncover it, so you can work to process it properly.

Whether you went through some weird isolated event, or we’re torn apart each day, doesn’t matter as much as most want to think. You still need to as an adult heal from the things you couldn’t see when you were young. Now, looking back, you know you were not treated correctly, right? Below, I am going to go over some of the more important steps that come with the healing process.

10 Steps That Will Help You Heal Your Childhood Trauma As An Adult:

Step 1 – Find It

Figure out what it is that happened to you when you were younger. This could be something small or something enormous. Until you figure out what it is, you’re not going to be able to work through it.

Step 2 – Ground Yourself

Grounding yourself during moments like this can be crucial. In order to process properly, you need to be calm and collected. Don’t break yourself down trying to heal.

Step 3 – Break It Down

Break down what you’re trying to heal from. Why did it happen? What exactly happened? Is there more to it that you’re not recalling?

Step 4 – Understand The Source

From here, you need to work to understand the source behind what happened. Why did that happen to you and who is to blame? Is there someone still in your life that you should have long since cut out?

Step 5 – Feel It Entirely

Feel the emotions that come with this trauma wholly. Do not close yourself off from them. This is something you need to finally feel so that you can stop running away from it.

Step 6 – Share It With Those Who Care

If you feel like you need to talk to someone, share your thoughts and experiences with someone who cares. There are people who love you and want you to feel better, those are the people to turn to. Your support system exists to help you, let them help.

Step 7 – Let It Go

Once you have done all of the things above, let go of that trauma. Stop reconnecting with it and work through meditation to melt it away. I know, it won’t be something you can entirely forget, but it should from here be something you can truly put behind you.

Step 8 – Begin Again

Start over and find something else to heal from. Once you’ve healed everything you see you need to, you will feel better. This kind of thing is full of so much progress.

Step 9 – Shake Off The Rest

Once you’ve healed from all you feel you need to heal from, shake off the other small things that bother you now. Those things do not deserve your time or effort. From here, you have so much to look forward to.

Step 10 – Grow

After all, is said and done, growth is inevitable. You will be feeling much better and in a better place within your own mind. You deserve this, and you should be proud of yourself.
