While some very jaw-dropping announcements have come from the White House in recent months, this one takes the cake. Do you think tearing families apart by deporting parents who have children here is somehow justifiable through the Christian Bible? Well, White House officials do.
Just days ago White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders got into a heated argument with reporters and went so far as to say it is “very biblical to enforce the law.” This being in regards to literally ripping children from their immigrant parent’s arms under the current zero-tolerance policy in place. You see, earlier that same day Attorney General Jeff Sessions had cited the bible defending the current controversial policy.
Sessions said as follows:
“Illegal entry into the United States is a crime, as it should be.”
“Persons who violate the law of our nation are subject to prosecution. I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13, to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained them for the purpose of order.”
Seems to be twisting a bit now, doesn’t he? As if this wasn’t enough, Sanders’ words really took the cake and smashed it right in the faces of everyone here in America. When asked “Where does it say in the Bible that it’s moral to take children away from their mothers?” She basically refused to answer and avoided it completely by accusing Acosta (who she was conversing with) of trying to put words in her mouth.
The interview was a very downhill sloping nightmare and basically, her reasoning regardless of biblical use was ‘because it’s the law’ which just doesn’t sit right with most people. Don’t get me wrong, whether you are for immigrants staying here or not I am sure we can all agree seeing families torn apart like this is not a good thing and that we need to work out some means around it. Perhaps this is a topic that makes us a bit salty but when things like this happen we shouldn’t run to find a biblical cop out.
This whole interview is a literal shit show. She blames everything on the ‘democrats’ but the problems are not that simple.
