While it has been said that the eyes are the window to the soul, it turns out that they are much more than that. The eyes are far more amazing than we give them credit for.
We take our eyes and our sight for granted. There are tons of people across the world who are blind, some of which were born that way and have never seen anything ever. Could you imagine? I believe it would be worse to lose your sight as you would know exactly what you were missing out on.
That being said, there have been quite a few studies done on the eyes and what each color may mean for those with eyes of that kind. Have you ever wondered what the color of your eyes might entail? Science may be able to tell you just that.
According to researchers from Pittsburgh University women who have lighter colored eyes, meaning blue or green, tend to experience less pain during childbirth. This sort of thing all relates back to our genetics. Another set of researchers at the Georgia State University took the time to survey over 12,000 men and women, they found that those with lighter eyes consumed more alcohol on a significant level than those with dark eyes. It seems darker eyes people need less alcohol to become intoxicated.
This is especially interesting considering years after that was determined it was also found those with blue eyes were at an increased risk of becoming alcohol dependent. This research coming from the University of Vermont, they found that within a sample of 1,263 European-Americans alcohol dependence was obviously more prevalent among those with light eyes. This study also noted a significant interaction between genes for eye color and genes associated with alcohol dependence.
Dr. Anthony Fallone of Edinburgh University who has been studying the links between our eyes and our personalities has said on many occasions that the eyes are quite closely linked neurologically to our brains. He claims that our eyes hold very important clues to our brain functioning in general. For instance, those with darker eyes are often more agreeable than those with lighter eyes and those with darker eyes also tend to be better at sports.
While you may not think about these things often it is interesting to really learn about. The melanin in our eyes does a lot more than we realize. For more insight into our eyes and the things that they may indicate for us depending on our eye color check out the video below. What do you think about all of this? I for one find it to be quite fascinating.
