All of us were put here on Earth with no further explanation of why we’re here, what were supposed to be doing, or why it’s all happening. However, that hasn’t stopped important researchers and philosophers from seeking answers.
Unfortunately, the western world has become extremely materialistic. It seems like we don’t care about much of anything besides what the next object we are going to get or the newest iPhone that’s out. Nobody in the western world really thinks about the meaning of life anymore, and it’s actually rather saddening. People seem to only care about themselves and what they can obtain instead of other people and what they can give. It’s a real shame, because it’s just completely missing the point of life.
While we still have no concrete evidence of the true meaning of life and how we got here, many important philosophers have very good ideas – like the Dalai Lama. The Dalai Lama is an extremely wise philosopher who has studied the true heart of Dharma for some time now. The point of life isn’t about the things you can acquire at all. It’s about discovering our own true purposes and making an impact on society.
Everyone would like to know the true meaning of life, but hardly anyone these days is willing to put a little effort into figuring it out on their own. We have materialized life to the point where nobody even questions it anymore. We walk around like mindless zombies seeking Facebook post likes and Instagram followers. We are completely missing the essence of life, according to the Dalai Lama anyways.
The true meaning of life according to the Dalai Lama is extremely touching and inspiring. He says that we are visitors on this planet who are here for no longer than 90 or 100 years. During our period of visiting Earth we must try to do something good and useful with our lives. If you try to contribute to other people’s happiness, you will find the true goal and meaning of life.
