Smartphones have became a regular fixture in our lives in modern times, and for many of us, we start and end our days with these devices in our hands. When it is time to go to bed, we simply set our alarms, place the phone next to our pillow and doze off. However, many experts are warning that this could be devastating to our health.

Below I am going to go over some of the risks involved in sleeping with your phone nearby. Not only will it disrupt your sleep, it could literally be causing cancer. Whether you think these risks are enough to keep the phone at least on your dresser is up to you but I won’t be keeping mine close anymore.

The 4 Main Risks That Come With Sleeping With Your Cell Phone:

1. It makes your sleep a lot less sound.

The blue light emitted from your phone can and will keep you up at night and prevent your sleep from being as sound. Whether you are on it or not you will get notifications and your screen will turn on. This is just how it works.

2. You could literally set your room/pillow on fire.

When you put your phone under your pillow whether it is plugged into the charger or not it could get too hot and explode or cause a fire. This happens a lot more often than you would think. Please, do NOT smother your cell phone.

3. You could be causing yourself more headaches than you think.

Some of the more common health hazards that come with overusing or being too close to your phone all the time include headaches, memory loss, brain tumors, and so forth. If you leave your phone under your pillow and wake up with a headache every day its safe to say you already know why this is happening.

4. You are increasing your exposure to radiation (which can cause cancer).

While most people will tell you that your exposure levels are well within their limits the truth is there hasn’t been anywhere near enough research on this kind of thing. EMF radiation is a known cause of cancer and if you’re using your phone 24/7 and sleeping with it by your side, you’re increasing your risks and exposing yourself to more radiation. This is not a good thing at all.
