Authentic people are not as common as we would like for them to be, and to be completely honest they are pretty hard to find.

Being authentic is important but it also is not easy. Being authentic means being who you are without apology all the time. It means standing up for what you believe in no matter what and going above and beyond to speak your mind. Authentic people are just somehow cut from a different material than the rest of us.

Below I am going to go over some of the more common signs that someone might be truly authentic. These signs are going to be things that might seem a bit odd, but they all add up to make the perfect mixture. Authenticity is made up of a lot more than you might think.

1. They know how to express their emotions.

They don’t hold back their emotions! They express themselves as best they can 100% of the time. They cannot and will not hide their emotions away. You see them in their rawest form.

2. They take other people’s emotions into consideration.

They don’t jump all over other people. They take the emotions of others into consideration above all else. They aren’t going to make someone feel bad for no reason.

3. They are open to learning in all aspects of the word.

They learn from all of their mistakes. They know that in life we are always learning new things even when we think we know everything. There is always room to gain knowledge.

4. They are highly motivated.

They do not let anything or anyone hold them back. They are very motivated people who know where they are headed. They have everything planned out.

5. They are more realistic than most people.

They don’t keep their heads up in the clouds. They have a plan and know their goals. Everything they do and work towards is realistic and achievable within reason.

6. They accept everyone for who they are.

They know who they are, and they know who they are not. They accept everyone who comes into their lives and do not judge. You will not find them changing their views on someone until they are given a reason to.

7. They apologize when they have made a mistake.

They say they are sorry when they do something wrong. They are kind and respectful to everyone, because they always take responsibility apologizing just comes naturally.

8. They do not look to other people for approval.

They don’t need the approval of the people who surround them. As long as they are happy and not hurting anyone they are going to continue on. If you don’t like them or the things that they do they will just cut ties.

9. They do not have a hostile sense of humor.

They are kind and do not get a laugh out of other people suffering. They do not find hostile jokes to be funny at all. Their sense of humor is light and airy.
