Napping is something that a lot of people enjoy, but for some reason, we tend to act like it should be isolated to children. Naps are for everyone and can be good for our health, they are actually much more beneficial than you might think.

Research from not too long ago actually shows that napping could really be the key to happiness. It is something that provides benefits for all of us and depending on the person can really boost moods. This study comes from researchers at the University of Hertfordshire and using over one thousand participants found that when someone has a nap they report feeling much happier throughout their day.

Researchers separated these people into groups of people who did not nap, people who napped for less than 30 minutes, and people who napped for over 30 minutes. It seems 66 percent of those who were short nappers were much happier than the other people who participated in this study. Interesting, right? It seems short naps might be more important than we realize.

Professor Richard Wiseman who worked on this study said as follows in a statement:

“Previous research has shown that naps of under 30 minutes make you more focused, productive and creative, and these new findings suggest the tantalizing possibility that you can also become happier by just taking a short nap,”

“Similarly longer napping is associated with several health risks and again, this is in line with our results.”

“A large body of research shows that short naps boost performance. Many highly successful companies, such as Ben & Jerry’s and Google, have installed dedicated nap spaces, and employees need to wake up to the upside of napping at work.”

Considering most of us are not getting enough sleep during the night napping might really be exactly what we all need. A mere 30 minutes could be able to spice your mood up big time.
