The way we live in current times is very empty. We are left paying bills and wasting away at a job so that we can afford the homes we never see. Modern humanity is nothing like it should be, and that much is clear for everyone I assume.
We live in a world where we feel those who have more money are better than those who do not and anyone who goes against the ‘norm’ is considered a ‘loser’ or a ‘lowlife’ even the ones who are harming no one. We all go through hard times and we all have our own problems, no one is perfect.
We are so much more than we believe we are. We are not defined by the things that we eat or the places we work. When you get back down to the base for everything you see that we are defined by ourselves and no one else.
“You have a right to experiment with your life. You will make mistakes. And they are right too. No, I think there was too rigid a pattern. You came out of an education and are supposed to know your vocation. Your vocation is fixed, and maybe ten years later you find you are not a teacher anymore or you’re not a painter anymore. It may happen. It has happened. I mean Gauguin decided at a certain point he wasn’t a banker anymore; he was a painter. And so he walked away from banking. I think we have a right to change course. But society is the one that keeps demanding that we fit in and not disturb things. They would like you to fit in right away so that things work now.”
― Anaïs Nin
We do things for sake of doing them in this day and age and it really isn’t getting us anywhere. We allow ourselves to overwork day in and day out only to never chase after our dreams. We are left with no energy and diminishing willpower to challenge the grain for something more. We lose track of who we are and there is nothing good about that no matter how normal it is.
This world is so much more than the box we are forced to live in. It is big and beautiful and full of wonders. IT is the key to true happiness, not sitting in your office hoping to make enough this week to buy a big television later or even catch up on bills. Forget what society has made you and be who you want to be. Live a life that fulfills you to whatever extent you see fit.
We are a part of something amazing, we are a part of the Universe in all of its glory. We need to be doing things to expand ourselves and become one with Mother Nature. Get out there and fill your lungs with all that she has to offer. Remember where you came from. This video if nothing else should provoke some very intense thoughts, please check it out below.
