North Korea Says That ‘False Claims’ From the US Are Threatening Peace

By May 7, 2018 World News

Just when we thought the tension between the US and North Korea had died down something has it all fired back up again. What is going on this time?

It seems the US has decided to turn to pressuring NK on an extreme level and using military threats to try and get them to give up all nuclear weapons. While North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un and President Donald Trump are set to meet within the next few weeks, a resolution might not be as in the works as we thought. According to the BBC North Korean Officials has said that Washington was ‘misleading public opinion’ by claiming that the denuclearization pledge was a result of sanctions and pressure from the US. It was also mentioned that the US was causing more tension in the what was supposed to be good atmosphere by deploying military assets on the Korean peninsula.

This meaning that the US was basically making things sound better than they were in that instance and trying to make it seem as though they had done more than they actually did. Regardless, President Trump has said that he believes NK is sincere in their moves towards working things out but as tension is rising back up we are not quite sure what to expect.

The statement made by North Korean Officials as mentioned above goes as follows according to BBC:

“The US is deliberately provoking [North Korea] at the time when the situation on the Korean peninsula is moving toward peace and reconciliation thanks to the historic north-south summit and the Panmunjom Declaration,”

“This act cannot be construed otherwise than a dangerous attempt to ruin the hard-won atmosphere of dialogue and bring the situation back to square one.

“It would not be conducive to addressing the issue if the US miscalculates the peace-loving intention of [North Korea] as a sign of ‘weakness’ and continues to pursue its pressure and military threats against the latter.”

What do you think about all of this? Do you think things will finally be resolved or do you think both sides are playing one another? I for one am not quite convinced this will be the end of things. I guess we will know more once Kim Jong-un has met with President Trump.
