While we all know there are benefits to essential oils, not many people know that they are safe to ingest. However, we should all be careful when doing so too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

While many use their essential oils for aromatherapy it is not the only way you can use them. Lavender essential oil is a great way to reduce anxiety and a Korean study actually found that lavender reduced both depression and insomnia in female college students. Another study published in Phytomedicine even went so far as to note that orally administering this oil was just as effective as the medication Lorazepam when it came to treating anxiety disorder in general.

Lavender essential oil has tons of medicinal properties and can benefit even those with headaches and so forth. Below you will find a recipe for one of the most powerful drinks in regards to reducing anxiety. If you like lemonade this one will quickly become your new drink of choice.

Lavender Essential Oil Lemonade (DIY)


9 Peeled and Juiced Lemons
3 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil
2 Cups of Raw Honey
15 Cups of Water

You can also add in real lavender plants, but if you do so steeping it in the water would be best before getting started.

(Reduce if you only desire to make a little as the amounts above will make quite a lot.)


Mix all of these things together in any order you see fit. I suggest adding in the lavender essential oil last as it is easier that way. Once you have finished give it a taste and add more water or more honey as needed. Then, allow it to chill in the fridge for a few hours.
