For a long time the question of psychopathic tendencies has been up for debate. Are they Anti-Social? Are they previous bed wetters? Do they murder small animals as children? Scientists have found a major indicator of psychopathic tendencies and we are going to share it with you now.

A study carried out by the University of Austria that included about 1,000 participants seems to suggest those who like bitter foods such as dark chocolate are more likely to exhibit psychopathic traits. They found exactly what they were setting out to find, a correlation between those who enjoy bitter foods and their personalities. This study included two separate parts.

Each participant was asked to rate foods listed from one to six. This being from strong likes to strong dislikes. They then had to answer a questionnaire that showed their levels of aggression and other things of the sort. It seems that the people who liked bitter foods better seemed to have more psychopathic tendencies than the people who preferred sweet foods. General bitter taste preferences were a good predictor for things like narcissism, sadism, and psychopathy. Strange now, isn’t it?

While these findings may be a bit odd they are quite accurate and interesting, to say the least. Researchers were a bit blown away by their findings. According to Munchies, Christina Sagioglou author of this study says that eating bitter foods might be comparable to riding a rollercoaster. Strange, right?

These researchers told DailyMail as follows in regards to their results:

“The results suggest that how much people like bitter-tasting foods and drinks is stably tied to how dark their personality is.”

I guess when it comes to figuring out who you should be spending time with a taste test is truly in order. What do you think about these findings? Which do you prefer?

I for one will not be looking at anyone the same, I will probably be spending the next few days paying attention to the things other people like to eat. However, not everyone who likes bitter foods is a psychopath. Could you be a closet psychopath?
