Hackers Threaten To Release Confidential 9/11 Documents If Blackmail Demands Are Not Met

While you won’t see much coverage on it, a hacker group known as ‘The Dark Overlord’ has recently obtained about 18,000 secret/unreleased documents that they stole from insurers and other agencies. They are currently threatening to release these documents to the public and claim the contents are quite interesting.

According to RT, the hacker group claims that these documents will tell the story of what really happened on 9/11. This has caused many to be quite eager to see what could be to come. They actually went so far as to publish what they call a ‘teaser’ of information consisting of letters, emails, and so forth from places like various law firms, FAA, and more.

The group tweeted out as follows:

“We’ll be providing many answers about 9/11 conspiracies through our 18,000 secret documents leak.”

That being said, their account on Twitter has since been suspended, so we do not know when it will return. This hacker group has targeted other organizations in the past and even went for a production studio working for Netflix at one point. (They were the ones who released a season of Orange is the New Black ahead of schedule.) In an announcement on Pastebin TDO wrote that they had documents/files from some companies that insured the World Trade Centers and so much more. They have stolen tons of files but it is at the moment not too clear which files are in their hands.

A spokesperson from the Hiscox group spoke to Motherboard earlier this week and told them as follows regarding this hacking situation:

“The law firm’s systems are not connected to Hiscox’s IT infrastructure and Hiscox’s own systems were unaffected by this incident. One of the cases the law firm handled for Hiscox and other insurers related to litigation arising from the events of 9/11, and we believe that information relating to this was stolen during that breach,”

“Once Hiscox was informed of the law firm’s data breach, it took action and informed policyholders as required. We will continue to work with law enforcement in both the UK and US on this matter,”

This whole ordeal is being investigated by the FBI according to RT and some are even considering the fact that this could be some kind of red herring. The documents released so far have not been ‘damning’ in any way but is proof that they do have documents. This group wants bitcoin and does not seem to be slowing down until they get it.

Basically, any firm involved is being ‘encouraged’ by the hacking group to pay them to not release their files/documents they stated as follows:

“If you’re one of the dozens of solicitor firms who was involved in the litigation, a politician who was involved in the case, a law enforcement agency who was involved in the investigations, a property management firm, an investment bank, a client of a client, a reference of a reference, a global insurer, or whoever else, you’re welcome to contact our e-mail below and make a request to formally have your documents and materials withdrawn from any eventual public release of the materials. However, you will be paying us.”

While this is a topic we don’t know much about just yet as things unfold more will be gone over. What do you think of this? Could this finally be our chance to figure out what happened with 9/11 and whether the ‘theories’ on it are true or will things end up flopping? I guess only time will tell.
