Just because everyone else you know is in a relationship or finally settling down for good does not mean you have to. There is nothing wrong with being single.

While as a single person you’re going to have days where you feel like you’re missing out and like you want someone to love, you should not settle for someone who isn’t right for you. Just because they give you the time of day does not mean they deserve your heart. When you realize how toxic someone is, you should do what must be done and cut ties. Don’t let them close enough to gain control within your life.

Allowing yourself to dive deeply into a toxic relationship will do nothing more than leave you feeling unhappy and broken. When you’re stuck with someone who always brings you down and refuses to see your worth, happiness is not possible. Instead of being able to see the bright side of things, you drown in the darkness before you.

Sure, you might think you love that toxic person but the sad truth is that they do not love you. If they loved you they would not be treating you as they do or did. The people who love you will treat you with respect and care about what you have to say.

Sometimes it’s better to be on your own than to settle for someone who isn’t going to know your worth. You deserve more than what those kinds of people are going to be able to offer you. It might not be easy to admit that you’re making a mistake by allowing someone like this in your life but doing-so will help you grow tremendously.

As time passes you’ll realize how fun being single can be. You get to be as independent as possible and you still have friends and family to lean on when things get rough. Sure, love might sound amazing but it’s not always what it’s cracked up to be. Wait for the right person to come around, don’t try to make things work with someone who isn’t willing to put forth any real sense of effort.

Things are not always what they seem and we have to try our best to be aware of the people around us. Toxic people come in all shapes and sizes, if your gut is telling you that something is wrong perhaps you should listen to it. You can have a lot of fun as a single person, whether you want to realize that or not.

Love in itself will come when the time is right. Toxic people are not going to be able to hold onto you forever but you should work to distance yourself from them as much as possible. Embrace the single life while you can and focus on yourself for now.
