We’re all alone sometimes or feel lonely here and there. Overall, this is not something we can entirely avoid and well, perhaps we shouldn’t be trying to anyways.
Don’t get me wrong, it is important to spend time with other people but it can also be important to spend time on your own whether you’re lonely or not. If you see your alone time as a chance to recharge and get things done on your own, you are likely someone who benefits greatly from being alone. This kind of thing can be good or bad depending on how you yourself see things. If you look for the good, you’re going to reap the positive but if you look for the negative, you may not.
INC.com wrote on this topic a while back and they noted that there were several ways backed by science that went over why solitude even in itself could make a person more successful and some of the things on that list in itself were quite unexpected. They noted that solitude overall helps us get to know ourselves and that it can even improve our relationships with others because we all need our own space. These things are all very much true.
One important part of the INC.com article worth sharing goes as follows:
You don’t need to aside huge chunks of time to be by yourself in order to benefit from solitude. Just 10 minutes of alone time each day could be enough to help you rejuvenate from the daily grind.
If you think you don’t have time to sit quietly and think, you probably need alone time more than ever. The busier you are, the more likely you are to benefit from some quiet time.
Whether you decide to meditate, write in a journal, or take a hike in nature, it’s up to you. But, whatever you do, silence your electronics and allow yourself to be alone with your thoughts.
You also might schedule an activity to do by yourself once a month. Go to dinner alone, take a long walk by yourself, or engage in an activity that you enjoy.
We all grow through the things we experience and so whether you’re on your own by choice or because you have to be, you will get stronger through it. It all depends on how you look at things. In the end, you can and will overcome what is before you because you are a powerful person.
